Joanne Khan
Joanne joined Uptown Vets in February 2010. Having worked in the veterinary field for over a decade, she enjoys working in a small practice. She says that makes working at Uptown Vets so different is the quality care and genuine concern that the staff and Doctors display for their clients and pets. When not working she enjoys spending as much time as possible with her husband and son. She currently has three goldfish, one Beta Fighter fish, a very special parrot from Australia - a Rainbow Lorie named "Baby".
Gwendolyn Baker
Receptionist Gwen Baker joined us in October 2008, bringing nine years experience at the front desk with her.
She says she enjoys working at Uptown Vets because, at a small practice, she becomes more in touch with the individual clients. She enjoys cooking, movies, reading and spending time with her family. Any pets? "Not yet, but soon!" she says.
Marlon Ulloa
Originally from Ecuador, Marlon is 26 years old and has worked in the veterinary field for 2 years now. Recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in Biology from City College of NY, he plans to go back to school to get his masters. Marlon is dedicated to his education. He has worked as a field research assistant on American Museum of Natural History projects in La Perouse Bay, Manitoba, surveying Snow Goose migration and Polar Bear scat; and in the Hamptons as a Piping Plover hatchling monitor.
At home, he loves to hang around with his 10 year old parrot named Lucia. He spends his free time listening to music and dancing.
Leslie Hamilton
A native New Yorker, Leslie has worked in the veterinary field over fourteen years, doing everything from volunteer shelter work to ER and surgical prep, in private practice and at the Animal Medical Center. "I love what I do." she says. "I love caring and tending to animals. I really like the staff at Uptown Vets and I plan on staying a long time." At home, Leslie has two cats, Sexy and Bibi.
Leah Sashitzky
Leah graduated from LaGuardia Community College in 2005 as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Since then she has worked in a myriad of veterinary settings; from farm animals to research and even working on the ASPCA mobile clinic. At UptownVets since February 2010, Leah can now truthfully say she has found her niche. "There's something unique about this small animal clinic that rates it above the rest. From the warm and caring staff to the varied clientele, this it the place to be!"
When not busy caring for the cats and dogs at work, Leah enjoys baking yummy pastries and breads with her husband, painting in her studio, perusing the local library for great reads and exploring the city! She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and miniature parrot named Chewy.
Rosemarie Moore
A surgical assistant at Uptown Vets since 2007, Rosemarie Moore hails from the Bronx and has worked in the animal care field for more than a decade. Rosemarie is glad to be part of the friendly, caring atmosphere at the hospital and is proud of the high-quality care the staff provides.
At home, Rosemarie is kept busy by her family of pets, including Oliver, a Pit Bull, two parrots named Kiwi and Chili, chameleons, treefrogs and a hog-nose snake. When not at home, Rosemarie enjoys roller skating, going to concerts, yoga and taking Oliver for walks in the park.
