Ina is a wonderful vet and is making a tremendous difference in the lives of the homeless animals from Pet Rescue. Not only is she knowledgeable and caring, she also makes sure that the rescue animals get treated only with the best care that is available. She always makes time to see them and falls in love with everyone of them. If we did not have Ina as a vet, we would be in a lot of trouble, since she is more than generous when it comes to helping our Pet Rescue organization and the animals we bring to her. Recently, she even adopted a cat from us and that cat is now living it up at her hospital.

Amigos de los Animales of Isla Mujeres is a rescue organization on the small island of Isla Mujeres in Mexico. My husband Jeff and I run it and could not do the work we do without outside help and support. One of our most valuable sources has been Ina Obernesser and James Weeks, who own and operate Uptown Vets in NYC. Ina, a veterinarian, was determined to help our animals from the first moment she stepped off of the ferry. She has sent us supplies, worked many times with our local vet, and has taken on many of our most difficult cases.
Recently my husband and I took two dogs to them in New York; Karla, who had an abdominal tumor, and Mr. Bean, who had a broken hip. They welcomed us with open arms. Ina operated on Karla right away and though it was more complicated than we thought, Ina happily pulled her through with the help of the New York City Veterinary Specialists.
Ina also works with Pet Rescue to find loving homes for our dogs after she tends to their medical needs. Together, Ina and James have relocated many of our incredible island animals, which is more than we could ask for.

I can only agree with the others, this is my first time owning a dog alone and I feel very welcome to ask any questions, never feel rushed, Dr. Obernesser and rest of the techs were very friendly. I got a retired greyhound, a breed which requires specific knowledge of their blood chemistry, etc. She happened to grow up with one, so glad to know my dog's in good hands.
Since I have never been to another vet alone, I cannot say whether this place is "cheap," although the complete routine exam with basic fecal and quick blood test was around $175, with a vaccine shot, minor ear infection treatment and take home medication, came to around $275. Since its literally around the corner from my place, has good hours, and everything is explained to me, I feel its definitely worth it.

Uptown Veterinary Associates is a TERRIFIC place. The office is brand-new, spotlessly clean, cheerfully decorated, and professional. I have lived in NYC for 18 years, and have worked with many different vets in that time. So you can trust me when I say Dr. Obernesser is truly a special vet. Ever since this practice opened, I have taken all my cats to Dr. Obernesser (I have 3 cats of my own, and I do volunteer work with foster and rescue cats regularly). She is kind and gentle with every animal - and she seems to have a magic touch for putting even the most skittery cats at ease. Recently, she stayed late for 2 hours past her regular closing time just to make sure a pregnant stray cat I brought in for treatment was okay. Talk about going above and beyond! The support staff (from the receptionists to the vet techs) at Uptown Vets clearly love animals, too - they treat every pet like it was their own. What a caring, wonderful place! If you live uptown and are looking for a vet, look no further - Dr. Obernesser is the best there is.

I adopted an undercover sickly cat from animal control last summer. When he came down with ringworm (shudder) and ear mites (mildly gross) days after I brought him home, I was relieved to have the caring, gentle vets and assistants at Uptown Veterinary only three blocks from my apartment. The office is clean and modern, and the staff is knowledgeable. Yay!

My wife and I bring our three cats to uptown veterinary associates and love them. The staff is incredibly helpful and caring, the facility clean and efficient, with lots of private rooms. Dr. Obernesser is knowledgeable and helpful, and you can tell that she truly cares about her clients and their pets. I work for a non-profit that does animal rescue and she is equally concerned about the welfare of our feral animals as she is with our own personal pets. I highly recommend this vet!

I have been going to Dr. Obernesser for a few years now and I can honestly say that she is 1 of the best vets that I have ever gone to. She loves all animals as if they were her own. She travels the world rescuing and spaying/neutering animals in need. She treats them as if they were her own and genuinely cares about them. Even the ferals that we work with that most people wouldn't give the time of day to.
Her staff is equally caring and treats you as part of the team and not a number.
A lot of vets will rake you over the coals and do completely unnecessary testing and procedures just to make a buck. Dr. Obernesser has never done this and will think things through in a way that is the best care for your animal as well as you. This is because she is in this for the animals and NOT the buck!
Her facility is all state of the art and the office is modern, warm feeling, and very clean and inviting.
I would highly recommend her and her staff and will stay with her forever. It's hard in this day and age to trust certain vets and their associates with your animals and I completely trust them. I am never scared to leave an animal there because I know that they are going the extra mile and caring for it. Have had bad experiences in the past with vets and I am thankful that I have found her.

I live up in Washington Heights, and I've had some bad experiences with vets in the past. (Grouchy service, overcharging, attempting to bully clients into tests and services that aren't needed, you name it.)
After several years of frustration trying to find a caring, honest, reasonably priced vet, I found this WONDERFUL veterinarian on 112th Street. Dr. Ina Obernesser has a beautiful, clean, state-of-the art office, with courteous, friendly and knowledgeable staff. I recommend this practice VERY highly.
I have 3 cats myself (ages 3, 4, and 14), and I also work with a kitty rescue group here in the neighborhood. Believe me when I say I've personally seen it all when it comes to vets in this area, and Uptown Vets is really worth the trip a few blocks south to Harlem.
