Dr. Ina Obernesser, DVM

The owner of Uptown Veterinary Associates, Dr. Ina Obernesser was raised in a German farm village where she formed a strong bond with animals at an early age. She moved to Italy and studied at the University of Bologna until relocating to New York City, where she worked as a veterinary technician and completed her pre-vet studies at Queens College. In 2004 she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, and completed a year of clinical rotations at Virginia Tech. Her professional interests include internal medicine and rescue work.

She has worked in private practice in New York City and Westchester County, and performs volunteer work with rescue groups in New York and Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Please visit www.ny-petrescue.org and www.islaanimals.org.

Dr. Obernesser opened Uptown Vets in September 2007. She is a member of the New York City Veterinary Medical Association, the New York State Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.

When not at work, Dr. Obernesser loves spending time with her husband James, and her two dogs: Chester, a beagle, and Pancho, a Mexican rescue beach dog. She enjoys curling (www.ardsleycurling.org), travel, movies, and reading in German, Italian and English.
